Krav Maga literally translated as “contact combat” which is a military martial art developed with bare hands in Israel. Assume no mercy will be given and emphasizes maximum threat neutralization in the context of “real life”. This system is recognized for its excellence has been adopted by various Israeli Defense Forces.
Krav Maga was developed in Czechoslovakia in the 1930s by Imi Lichtenfeld, also known as Imi Sde-Or (“Light Field”-a calque of the name in Hebrew). He first taught the fighting system in Bratislava to help protect the Jewish community from Nazi militias. After arriving in the British Mandate over Palestine, Lichtenfeld began teaching Kapap to the Haganah, the Jewish underground army. With the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, Lichtenfeld became Chief Instructor of Physical Fitness and Krav Maga at the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) School of Combat Fitness.

Firstly it would be completely irresponsible to write this article without first stating that disarming or putting up a fight against an attacker that is armed with a gun is something you should never try and hopefully never you have to. However if you seek out the correct training and become very experienced in it and one day find yourself in the situation where you are absolutely sure your attacker is going to kill you or take you somewhere where the situation could be even more dangerous or deadly then and only then should you attempt to disarm a gun wielding assailant.
