Krav Maga literally translated as “contact combat” which is a military martial art developed with bare hands in Israel. Assume no mercy will be given and emphasizes maximum threat neutralization in the context of “real life”. This system is recognized for its excellence has been adopted by various Israeli Defense Forces.

Krav Maga was developed in Czechoslovakia in the 1930s by Imi Lichtenfeld, also known as Imi Sde-Or (“Light Field”-a calque of the name in Hebrew). He first taught the fighting system in Bratislava to help protect the Jewish community from Nazi militias. After arriving in the British Mandate over Palestine, Lichtenfeld began teaching Kapap to the Haganah, the Jewish underground army. With the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, Lichtenfeld became Chief Instructor of Physical Fitness and Krav Maga at the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) School of Combat Fitness.

He served in the IDF for 15 years, during which time he continued to develop and improve methods of his hand to hand combat. In 1964 he left the military although it continues to oversee instruction Krav Maga in both military and law-enforcement context, and in addition, worked tirelessly to improve, enhance and adapt Krav Maga to meet civilian needs. The first student to receive a black belt and one is Eli Avikzar, Rafi Elgarisi, Haim Gidon, Haim Zut, Shmuel Kurzviel, Haim Hakani, Shlomo Avisira, Vicktor Bracha, Yaron Lichtenstein, Avner Hazan and Asulin Miki.

This deadly martial comes from Israel and the origin of the street, was developed by Jewish thugs to defend their neighborhood from a gang of anti-Jewish. Krav Maga is different from most other martial arts because it is more focused to end the fight as quickly as possible using the “Overwhelming Force”, making Krav Maga became the most deadly martial art from the others. Now, Krav Maga is used by the military and police, and also used by U.S. special forces and FBI.
Not just US Poker that became legendary, but also Krav Maga. As Poker Deals currently being brought as Poker on line, these are meant to spread the world, so does Krav Maga, put it online, would attract martial arts lover to know and learn about it.

In Krav Maga, all the techniques focus on maximum efficiency in real-life conditions. Krav Maga emphasizes rapid learning and retzef (“continuous combat motion”), with emphasis on efficiency, either to attack or defend. As game which have attack and defensive tricks, such as Mac poker UK, Krav Maga are proven effective for those two, of course you got to follow instruction and its principles.

Principles that guide in using Krav Maga techniques are:
* Do not hurt
* Quickly neutralize the attacker
* Quickly make the transition from engineering techniques to survive attack
* Exploit all the body’s natural reflexes
* Exploitation of all body parts are easily attacked
* Use all the objects that exist in aid

What is the best martial arts for kids? Well, that all depends on what you as a parent expect your child to gain from the arts. There are several common desired outcomes parents want from the partaking of martial arts for their children and I’ll try to touch base on those.
1. Discipline
2. Self-Confidence
3. Physical Interaction with other children in a controlled Environment.
4. self-defense

In the 20 plus years that I have been teaching Martial Arts to children, many parents want their children to learn stranger awareness and defensive maneuvers to prevent assault and/or abduction. As far as “what is the best martial arts for kids”, you have to look at several different factors, such as how old is the child in question, does he or she have an average attention span or is the child on medication to keep them focused, does he or she really want to take these lessons or do you have to force him/her to attend, can you really afford the lessons, are there any health concerns of the child in question? You must take all of this into consideration before you decide your child needs martial arts instruction.

Let’s assume that you want your child to be more disciplined and that is your major reason for the martial arts lessons. Then you must decide on a good instructor. By good instructor I mean one that not only has a vast array of knowledge in his or her particular style of martial arts but one that is accustomed to teaching small children and adults alike. The instructor must be well disciplined themselves and sometimes you will be able to see this upon your first introduction. If not, then I would suggest that you watch a few classes and see how the instructor interacts with his or her students. If you do not feel comfortable with the teaching methods, by all means go elsewhere. If you like what you see then go a step further and speak with some of the other parents and hopefully you will get some positive feedback on the instructor. Most schools have no problem with you sitting in and watching a few classes to make your mind up. If they do not allow you to watch, then go elsewhere.

Content is also a major concern for most parents. Any honorable instructor should be able to teach all levels of children, from 3 years old up to adulthood depending on attention span. Content for a 16 year old would be very different than for the 6 year old and under. I’ll give you an example. Let’s say that the technique in question was an eye gouge, which is an effective technique but comes with a dramatic effect on the attacker. Whereas the 16 year old may be able to understand that you would never use such a technique unless threatened by serious bodily harm or in an abduction type situation, the 6 year old if taught this technique, may opt to use it on their brother or sister because he or she had a fight over a toy or other trivial matter. A true martial arts instructor should be a good reader of people and should be able to size them up within a few seconds, understanding and taking into consideration age, intelligence level, and appropriateness of technique.

If you do sign your child up and you do not see any positive results within a few weeks, find another school. Of course if you have the time and your child is not distracted by you being there, join as well. What better way to see if the instructor is teaching honorably?
Let’s say that you want your child to take martial arts to gain self-confidence. The instructor’s reading or as I put it earlier in this article, the instructor’s sizing a person up, has to come into play and he or she must approach the situation a little differently. Trust is the key. If your child does not trust the instructor then he or she will not listen to him or her. Self-confidence has to be built gradually. If approached too fast then more harm than good could be the end result. I have taught children that came into my dojo with their head hung down , not even looking anyone in the eyes, children so scared of others that they were having problems at school and at home.

Some of the reasons these children were like this were different but they all shared that lack of self. One child in particular comes to mind. His parents were the type that really did not know how to interact with their son on his level. The only interaction they had with him was on their level so he did not know how to interact with children his own age. He was very short for his age and he was bullied by his schoolmates. He was made to feel inadequate by not only his schoolmates but inadvertently by his own parents. After 3 months of instruction, not only did this kid walk with his head held high but he was cheerful and smiling. His grades at school went from d’s to b’s and he even gained the confidence to join the school baseball team! As it turned out he became one of my best students and not only did I, but my whole class looked forward to seeing him each week.

The physical interaction that your child receives while taking martial arts must be a positive one. He or she must not only be taught the martial arts techniques but appropriateness of the techniques, method and be quizzed confrontationally in most situations before one knows how he or she will react. You can NOT allow him or her to become a bully and you must know that your child’s instructor strictly enforces brotherhood. Your child must be taught virtuous and honorably. Your child, if he or she really wants to learn will be a small reflection of their instructor.

As far as the self-defense part of your child’s learning, that again will all depend on your child’s age. You really can not expect a 3 year old child to be able to adequately ,physically , defend him or herself against a full grown man or woman. What you can expect if taught by a qualified instructor, is for your child to be able to know what to do if confronted by a would-be attacker. When I say ,”know what to do”, I mean a number of things. Let’s say for instance that you decide to take your 3 year old child to the park. You sit on a nearby bench while your child is having fun on the small children’s merry-go-round. Would your child know to NOT take the hand of a lady he or she has never seen before and leave the park? Would he or she know to yell something such as,”stop your not my mom or dad”, if a stranger tries to take him or her away? Maybe your child was given a whistle by his or her instructor and taught to blow it only in situations like that, to alert you or your husband in case you were momentarily distracted.

So, what is, “the best martial arts for kids”?
The best martial arts for kids is an instruction that is fun. One in which he or she looks forward to. One in which he or she learns from. One in which he or she do not sustain injuries on a consistent basis. And I use the term, “consistent basis” rather loosely. In my many years of instruction, I have never had any serious injury to any of my students under the age of 18. The most serious was a busted lip which heals in a few days. There is always that chance of an injury with any physical activity but if taught by a good instructor that chance is remote. A few bruised egos but not injuries. Martial arts should be uplifting in many ways and should never be dreaded by your child or looked at as punishment. Nor should it be taken away as punishment for bad grades as a lot of parents do.

So what really is the best martial arts? Hmm, if one is speaking in terms of style then the answer is , “there is no best style”. The best martial arts is what is best for you, the person. What works for you, what makes you happy is what is best. Whether it be Kung-Fu, Karate, Judo, Hapkido, etc,etc I’ve taught all of the above styles as well as several other styles and have found that children like a variety. As an instructor you also have to make whatever style you are teaching interesting to your students and useful.

Firstly it would be completely irresponsible to write this article without first stating that disarming or putting up a fight against an attacker that is armed with a gun is something you should never try and hopefully never you have to. However if you seek out the correct training and become very experienced in it and one day find yourself in the situation where you are absolutely sure your attacker is going to kill you or take you somewhere where the situation could be even more dangerous or deadly then and only then should you attempt to disarm a gun wielding assailant.

If that day comes these principals and techniques could save your life. Distance is a huge factor when dealing with a long range weapon like a firearm. If you know much about guns you will know most people can’t shoot that great and short nosed pistols or revolvers become incredibly inaccurate at long distances. So if you are facing someone with a small short barreled .38 with 5 rounds and you are already 20 feet away, then your best bet may just be to run for it! However if you are at close range, the closer they are the better even if that means the barrel is touching you. This means less time for the gun wielding attacker to be able to react and fire before you can disarm them and makes it easier for you to gain control and get out of the line-of-fire.

The key to being able to execute disarming someone with a gun effectively is muscle memory. The time it takes for someone to pull a trigger and the bullet fire is so short you don’t even have time to think about your movements. And this can only be mastered by hours of repetitive training, resulting in your muscles being able to react intuitively.

The most important factor in being able to disarm a gun attack without being shot is to remember you must instantly get yourself out of the line-of-fire and stay out. Even if your attacker hadn’t planned to shoot, the shock of you fighting back will likely scare them into firing. The fastest way to do this no matter if the gun is pressed to your head, stomach or back is to twist your body. And when disarming, make sure you remain out of the firing line at all times. Simultaneously with this movement you MUST gain control of the gun and keep control. Often in an effort to not warn your attacker of your intentions it is advised not to look at the gun and to verbalize that you will comply with their demands.

Once you have your hands on the gun, even against a larger and stronger attacker you can normally disarm them relatively easily. The key elements being are your speed, body weight and technique. Using your body weight you can twist the gun from them using your entire force against their grip or wrist. Or disarming can be done in a way the breaks the attackers fingers (be careful when practicing!)

The character of Sherlock Holmes is an endearing one, first appearing in 1887 in the story “A Study in Scarlet”, he survives today as one of the most portrayed film characters. Holmes is most famous as a detective for his intellectual prowess and the use of his powerful skills of observation, reasoning and forensics to solve the most difficult of criminal cases. But what is little known are his skills in the martial arts.
discount generic viagra online canadian pharmacy.

Holme’s Fighting Skills
Sir Doyle recounts Holmes’ skills in the martial art and weaponry during various adventures. For example, in the second novel, “The Sign of the Four”, Holmes is introduced as a formidable fist fighter and engages several of his adversaries with favorable outcomes and his skill as a martial artist is revealed to his companion, Dr. Watson, while recounting the events of his final battle with Professor Moriarty at Reichenbach Falls; Holmes uses his skills in the fictional martial art of baritsu to throw his adversary to his death.

This fictional martial art form is based on the real-life martial art of bartitsu, a form develop in England during the late 1890’s by British engineer, Edward William Barton-Wright. This portmanteau art form of Barton-Wright’s name and Jujitsu draws upon various Asian and Western martial art forms.

The Rescue of Lord Blackwood’s Sacrificial Victim
In the 2009 movie Sherlock Holmes by Guy Ritchie, focuses on many of the detective’s more negative eccentricities which guide his brilliant mind and martial-arts skills. In the first scene of Holmes runs to rescue Lord Blackwood’s victim as the police race through the streets of London. In true heroic fashion, Holmes arrives first to the scene and encounters a sentry. Holmes, played by Robert Downey Jr., takes the audience into his mind and gives them an insight into his analytical thought processes. Our hero uses his powers of observation, knowledge of the human body and martial-art skills to quickly dispatch and take down his opponent.

It must be noted that all the moves featured in the movie are very dangerous and must not be used unless your life or that of another is in jeopardy.

Step 1: “One: Head Cocked to the Left. Partial Deafness. First Point of Attack…”
The pinna or the outer ear collects audio waves and sends it down the external auditory canal to the tympanic membrane, as seen in Figure 1. A blow with a cupped palm to the ear is a vital striking point as it can send a pressure wave down the canal to press against this membrane with great force and cause pain; if forceful enough, it may even rupture this thin sheath. According to (Tegner), a moderate strike to the ear can cause pain while a more sever blow may lead to hearing impairment(Tegner)

Behind this sheath are three bones that lead to three fluid-filled semi-circular canals that are the center of a person’s sense of balance. By striking this area, Holmes knows that he can disorient and unbalance his opponent. But he also knows which ear to strike. His opponent’s head cock indicated that he may only have one functional ear, possibly to an already damaged hearing system.

Step 2: “…Two: throat; paralyze vocal chords, stop scream…”
Sherlock Holmes knows that a strike to the ear and his opponent’s subsequent disorientation is only temporary; he must act quickly to neutralize his opponent who is likely to cry out in pain from his initial attack and alert Lord Blackwood to his presence. A moderate strike to the throat will result in pain, gasping and choking thereby making it difficult for the guard to cry out for help.

This blow is particularly dangerous and should never be done except in a life threatening situation. A strong enough blow can crush the airway and cause someone to choke to death.

Step 3: “…Three: got to be heavy drinker. Floating rib to the liver.”
The floating ribs, or false ribs, refers to the ribs that are attached to the spine but not the sternum as seen in Figure 2. This area is particularly effective as most people are very ticklish there and hence very sensitive; jabbing just below this last rib will cause pain. This position is particularly efficacious as the ribs are only connected to the body by one point.

The liver is protected by the rib cage, as seen in Figure 3. But as Holmes has noted, his opponent is a heavy drinker. This may result in a damaged liver, possible enlarged and sensitive to touch. It is little wonder that he would choose to attack this area.

Step 4: “Four: finally, drag in left leg, fist to patella.”
In the movie, we see the detective drag his opponent’s leg forward and and punch the inside of the knee. The patella or knee cap, as seen in Figure 3, is a thick bone that protects the knee joint. There are also some ligaments that connects the bones to the joint and a strike here will affect a person’s ability to remain standing; Tegner says a strike to the side will cause an opponent to be unbalanced. After this move, Holmes’ opponent has been knocked down quickly and quietly.

“Summary prognosis: unconscious in ninety seconds, partial efficacy quarter of an hour at best. Full faculty recovery: unlikely.”

It is highly unlikely the techniques shown in the movie will be as effective but it does highlight how our hero’s awareness, knowledge of the human body and his keen powers of observation helps make him a formidable on-screen fighter. As any experienced martial artist will tell you, your greatest weapon is your brain and that is something Sherlock uses to his advantage.

The reality is that there is no best type of martial arts. Rather, each type or style possesses its own unique strengths and weaknesses. buy cheap viagra online uk. It’s really about the style that suits what you’re looking to do and learn, rather than a global best kind.
That said, there are some things to consider when looking for the best fit of martial arts for you.

Physical Condition: Some martial arts types, such as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA, require a high level of physical fitness. Further, it’s recommended that you actually come into the gym or school in reasonable shape or risk some very hard early days. Along with this, if it’s just that you’re out of shape, no problem. All you’ll need is the drive to get yourself back in excellent physical condition before getting involved in such a program. Work that cardio and core, if you will.

On the other hand, if age or injuries are a significant factor, you may want to stay away from high contact schools or those that have very high intensity workouts. Further, depending on where your particular injuries are and how they flare up, you may want to give the next consideration some thought.

Striking, Grappling, or Both: Do you want to fight standing up via the use of punches, kicks, knees, elbows, and more? Then consider the striking arts of kickboxing, or kung fu, karate, and Tae Kwon Do, for example. Do you want to grapple? Then get involved in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, wrestling, or judo (although judo is a throwing style, there are many schools that also go heavily into ground fighting as well).

Then again, perhaps you want to do both, in which case an MMA gym or school that teaches multiple styles may be right for you. Remember to think about your physical condition, as was noted previously, when deciding on the kind of martial arts to partake in. For example, if you have a recurring neck injury then Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, an art where people are continually trying to choke you from various positions, may not be for you.

Schedule and Distance: Just remember that before joining a martial arts school, distance and the schedule matters. If the schedule doesn’t work for you, it will eventually wear on you. In addition, if the school is too far away then that’s not exactly going to make it easy to keep going either.
Set yourself up for success.

Self-Defense Martial Arts Arguments: Simply put, this is something that you should know when talking with instructors and looking at schools, as it’s sure to come up. Are you looking to learn a martial arts style that claims it will teach you self-defense? Then you’re in luck.

Pretty much all martial arts styles claim to do just that. However, be aware that there are those in the martial arts community that believe sport martial arts do not really teach real-world self-defense skills, as sports are designed to allow practitioners to continue fighting, whereas real world self defense requires that practitioners end a fight quickly. After all, if sport martial arts allowed killing moves then there would be fewer athletes around after tournaments, no?

On the flip side, some sports martial artists believe styles that do not allow sparring at full go or near full go do not prepare martial artists to truly test themselves in real life situations. In other words, if you only practice moves partially either by stopping short, etc., then they’re likely to not work in real life. Such is the case with some traditional styles and schools. These people also point to mixed martial arts tournaments like the UFC, where many of the traditional martial arts styles did poorly early on.

Then again, some of their finishing moves were illegal at the time.
Of course, there is more to the argument than the aforementioned and this article is hardly about taking sides. But just be aware that you may hear some of these ideologies being thrown around in your search for the best martial arts type for you. Thus, it’s something to consider.

Sport Martial Arts: Some people are looking to engage in martial arts as a sport. Along with this, many styles of martial arts have a sport associated with them. For example, judo was actually invented by Dr. Jigori Kano in order to be just that—a sport. Further, there are numerous Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, karate, kung fu, and Tae Kwon Do tournaments available for would-be practitioners.

However, not all sport martial arts are considered equal in terms of the contact involved. Kickboxing, for example, will likely involve a significant amount of stand up sparring and contact. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu will involve little to none of that, but will certainly test your grappling skills at a full go pace. On the other hand, there are several karate schools out there where there is almost no full contact sparring going on. Included are tournaments that involve only mild contact.

These are some of the considerations for would-be sport martial artists.
In the end, there is a best martial arts type out there for you; it just needs to be found. Good luck in your search. On the next page are some of the more well-known styles for you to choose from.

POPULAR MARTIAL ARTS STYLES TO CHOOSE FROM

Striking or Stand-Up Styles

If you’re looking to punch, kick, and learn how to defend yourself in a stand up fight, then the styles below are worth a look.
•	Boxing
•	Karate
•	Krav Maga
•	Kung Fu
•	Tae Kwon Do
•	Kickboxing

Grappling or Ground Fighting Styles
If taking people to the ground and wrestling with them sounds like fun to you, below are some styles to consider.
•	Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
•	Russian Sambo
•	Shootfighting
•	Wrestling

Throwing or Takedown Styles
The throwing or takedown styles involve learning how to take people to the ground. Some of the techniques, of course, overlap with the grappling styles noted above. If you’re looking for a throwing style, many of which place a high emphasis on defensive techniques that use an opponents’ aggression against them, check out the styles below.
•	Aikido
•	Judo
•	Hapkido
•	Shuai Jiao

Weapons Based Styles
Learning to use weapons is a part of many of the traditional martial arts styles. However, there are some styles that cater almost exclusively to weapons. Check out some of these below.
•	Iaido
•	Kali
•	Kendo

Low Impact or Meditative Styles
Those that practice the low impact styles of martial arts are more concerned with breathing techniques, fitness, and the spiritual side of things than combat, even if all of these styles were once used for combat. Check out some of these low impact styles below.
•	Tai Chi
•	Baguazhang
•	Chi Gong based styles
